How do I start recording?

Press ⌘` (Command + Backtick) or click the menu bar icon.

Where is my transcription?

It's automatically copied to your clipboard. Just paste with ⌘V.

Why do I need to download a model?

HushType processes speech entirely on your device for privacy. The model enables offline transcription.

Which model should I choose?

Distil Large V3 offers the best balance of speed and accuracy.

Can I change the keyboard shortcut?

Yes. Right-click the menu bar icon → Settings → Shortcuts.

Is my data sent to the cloud?

No. All processing happens locally on your Mac. Nothing leaves your device.

Troubleshooting

No audio detected

Ensure microphone permission is granted in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone.

Transcription is slow

Try a smaller model in Settings → Model.

App not responding

Try quitting and restarting HushType from the menu bar icon.
